A great whisky creates great moments.
This time, I had the privilege of drinking The Yamazaki at Odin Bar in BKK1—a bottle that my senior had kept.

But it was so good that… I shamelessly finished it all by myself. 😅

Yamazaki is not just a whisky.
It is the origin of Japanese whisky and a masterpiece recognized worldwide.

  Established in 1923, Yamazaki Distillery is Japan’s first malt whisky distillery.
  Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, aimed to craft a whisky inspired by Scotland but uniquely Japanese in character—tailored to the local climate and refined through meticulous craftsmanship.
• 🔹 Unique Aging Environment:
  Situated near Kyoto, the humid and misty climate of Yamazaki provides an ideal setting for whisky maturation.
  This climate allows the whisky to age more rapidly and develop deeper flavors.
• 🔹 The Art of Blending:
  While The Yamazaki is a single malt, it benefits from the complexity of multiple cask types—Bourbon casks, Sherry casks, and Mizunara (Japanese oak) casks.
  The influence of Mizunara oak in particular adds a distinctive spicy and aromatic depth that sets it apart.

  Hints of dried fruits from Sherry casks

This was my first time visiting Odin, and I was truly impressed.
The dim lighting, the impressive whisky collection—it was a whisky lover’s paradise.

And in such a place, The Yamazaki was more than just a drink—it was an experience.

One sip, then another…
Before I knew it, I had finished the entire bottle. 😅
I might feel a little guilty, but honestly, that just proves how incredible this whisky is.
